The Lord’s Prayer: Conclusion
After completing the lesson, the student will be able to:
THE CONCLUSION | Use your catechism to write in the following information about the Conclusion of the Lord’s Prayer. Please copy it word for word below.
Closing the Lord’s Prayer with the word “amen” means simply that we can know for sure that these petitions are acceptable or heard by Him. Amen means simply, ‘yes, so it shall be; yes, this is true.” As we say ‘amen’ we are proclaiming our sure hope and confidence in God.
In closing this unit of study, and especially this petition, it is vital that we recognize the great importance of prayer in our lives. While the Lord’s Prayer provides for us the perfect model, it is not intended to be the only prayer that represents our prayer life. My hope (and prayer!) for each and everyone of you is that as you grow and mature in your faith, that your prayer life becomes more and more a blessing and a time of intimacy with your heavenly Father. He desires fellowship with you, and prayer is a way of fellowship. Further, let us always know our dependency upon prayer. In this life, we will never be free from our old nature, from temptation, and from evil. Yet, through Christ, we can be victorious over these foes that seek to harm us. May God find us faithful as children of prayer!
